O*Net Interest Profiler
O*Net's interest profiler is an extremely easy to use tool to help just about any individual find occupations that match their skill set and level of experience in those skill sets. O*Net is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Labor, and a partner of the American Job Center Network, both of which are testament to the validity and trustworthiness of this valuable tool. O*Net works by asking a series of 60 questions about a person's interests and then has them rate their level of experience on those skills.
O*Net works by giving a RIASEC score, standing for Realistic, Investigative, Artistic, Social, Enterprising and Conventional. Once completed, the individual receives scores in each of the six categories, but the three highest scores are in bold and considered the most important to the system. My results for the test are as follows:
Realistic: 16
Investigative: 28
Artistic: 29
Social: 35
Enterprising: 32
Conventional: 18
As you can see, my highest scores from highest to lowest are: Social, Enterprising and Artistic.
Realistic: 16
Investigative: 28
Artistic: 29
Social: 35
Enterprising: 32
Conventional: 18
As you can see, my highest scores from highest to lowest are: Social, Enterprising and Artistic.
According to the results, I show yet another affinity for management based activities. I have a high enterprising score, which means I show talent for starting and running businesses. The social score shows that I am adept at interacting with people and manipulating them in different directions. The artistic score shows that I can be unique and creative, showing a more individualistic side that comes in handy more in terms of food-service but could also be interpreted to say that I am capable of coming up with unique solutions to management problems.
